We are pleased to announce that Dr. Muhammad Shahzad has been awarded a competitive research grant from the Nestlé Foundation, Switzerland, to investigate the microbial drivers of gut barrier dysfunction in malnourished infants.
Through this project, Dr. Shahzad and his research team will investigate the functional characteristics of the gut microbiome that are associated with nutritional status and intestinal barrier dysfunction in vulnerable infants. The findings are expected to provide new insights into the biological mechanisms underlying childhood malnutrition and may contribute to the development of microbiome-informed strategies to improve child health and nutrition.
We congratulate Dr. Shahzad on this prestigious award and look forward to the important scientific contributions that will emerge from this research.
